Aroundtown has fully equipped its portfolio in the Netherlands with Smartvatten technology for the digital monitoring and analysis of water consumption. With this, Aroundtown has reached another milestone in the sustainable development of its portfolio: following the complete BREEAM certification of the Dutch portfolio, the water infrastructure has now also been consistently digitalized. The introduction of Smartvatten ensures transparent monitoring of water consumption, enabling reductions in consumption and the immediate detection of leaks. Initial implementations in Germany have already been carried out and are being gradually expanded across the commercial portfolio based on the results achieved so far. Smartvatten, founded in Finland in 2013, supports organizations with data-driven solutions to make water consumption transparent and reduce it in a targeted manner.
The comprehensive introduction of Smartvatten across the Dutch portfolio provides a significantly improved data basis for managing water consumption in buildings. Among the most recently equipped buildings with Smartvatten technology in the Netherlands are Newton House, Beta Building Netherlands, and Dalí. Through the continuous collection and evaluation of consumption data, efficiency potential can be identified in a targeted manner and operational processes can be optimized. This enables irregularities in water consumption to be identified at an early stage and appropriate repair measures to be derived. At the same time, the solution contributes to improving sustainability ratings and strengthens transparency towards tenants and investors. All buildings within the Dutch portfolio are certified under BREEAM, the world’s leading method for assessing the sustainability of buildings, thereby meeting internationally recognized sustainability standards for building operations. The Netherlands therefore plays a pioneering role within the Aroundtown portfolio and serves as a reference for the expansion of the technology into additional markets.
“At Aroundtown, we see digital infrastructure as a key part of sustainable real estate management. The full rollout of Smartvatten across our Dutch portfolio strengthens our ability to manage resources more efficiently, improve transparency, and create long-term value across our assets. The success of the Netherlands portfolio now supports the gradual expansion into Germany and reflects our broader ambition to scale smart and sustainable operations across our portfolio,” says Limor Bermann, Chief Sustainability Officer, Aroundtown.
The successful rollout in the Netherlands provides the foundation for further implementation in Germany, where the introduction of Smartvatten technology has already begun and is now set to be gradually expanded. Aroundtown continues to develop its properties with a targeted focus on efficient and sustainable use.
