Back in 2015, the world committed to Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6) as part of the 2030 Agenda. It is the promise that ensures access to water and sanitation for all. We have only 7 years left to achieve the 2030 agenda and the current truth is that we are seriously off-track. If we want to reach SDG 6 on time, governments need to move on average four times faster than today. At Smartvatten we focus on water consumption in Real Estate and its potential to combat water scarcity.

On this year’s World Water Day, we reflect on the importance of water and what developments we need – not only to combat a rising water scarcity but to grant everyone access to clean water. At a time when water is becoming an increasingly scarce resource, it has never been more important to address water challenges and ensure the sustainable management of our water resources.
The impact of the blue planet
Water plays a vital role in every aspect of human life. Our economy depends on water for shipping, fishing, or cooling of production sites, access to water impacts the independency of women and water is the crucial factor in climate change, linking the climate system, societies, and the environment.
